Summer bowling season is officially underway. We're bowling at BZ Roselle again this summer in their triples league. It's me, my dad, and Jan again, just like last summer. This year we are DETERMINED to make the tournament at the end of the season. But seeing as how the league takes up the entire house this year, we may have our work cut out for us.
But the good news is, I'm starting out the summer with a 193 average. Woo hoo!
OK so I've been slacking in the blog department. Blame it on major life changes... divorce, moving, going back to work full time, stress, stress, more stress, several cases of strep throat, alien abduction, and stress.
The bad news: yeah, I'm divorced now. I have to support myself financially, and it's been really %$#@!ing tough. I don't get to see my son every day. That really blows. I gained back 40 of the 50 pounds I lost due to stress/depression eating. Crap.
The good news: I like my new apartment, I do have a job (lucky me), my son is the most wonderful boy in the world, and my bowling is really improving.
As of right now, my average stands at 174, more than 10 pins higher than last year. And on December 22, 2008, I bowled a 290. That's right... 7-spare followed by 11 straight strikes. I'm supposed to get a plaque from the USBC for that 11-in-a-row thing. And right now my name sits atop the "High Game" board on the Ladies side at BZ Glendale Heights.

[General]
Eh, not so good this week... ended up slightly under average for the night and our team only took 2 points. I was just flat out pooped by the third game from a really killer weekend at work (that would be, let's see, 22.5 hours in two days). So yeah, I kinda phoned it in. Oh well.
The good news is that I figured out where my hook went, or rather why I was flattening out the ball so much. Somewhere in the last year or so (probably because of that &*^%$! sportsmen league at Fox last year) I had changed my starting hand position. I used to start out under the ball, but I changed it to starting more on the side of the ball. Ergo, not as much lift and not as much roll. Once I went back to starting under the ball, the ball moved like it used to.
So last Monday I rolled a 235, which is my high game for the year so far and also the high women's scratch game in the league.
I still have high women's average... 5 pins ahead of the 2nd place average. But the 235 game and 550 series last week has bumped my average up 2 pins. Whoo!
